On Friday 27th of November at 8.00pm at St Augustine's Church The Sydney Consort presents another forgotten Christmas Cantata. The Vaticini di Pace (Prophets of Peace) by Antonio Caldara has so far has been performed only once in Australia. This composition is a religious work, composed solely for Christmas Eve. In the early 18th Century it was a tradition to feature the Christmas celebrations in baroque Rome of a newly composed cantata on Christmas Eve in the Apostolic Palace. Apart from having a religious meaning, it is a beautiful work composed for four voices, strings and basso continuo.
Please uphold the Christmas tradition and consider inviting your partner (and as many friends as you like) for our Christmas Cantata performance.
