| MAMBO ITALIANO. Sydney based Band is a brainchild of classically trained (Brandmans Music Studios 1975) ex pop singer Halina Wywsik (aka “ Alina” on the Take Me Home Album produced by Bill Motzing at EMI Studios 1981) and John Redmond the Jazz/Swing and Big Band singer she met at the Freddie Wilson’s Jazz workshop in 2006.
The idea to create this ensemble was inspired by the Legendary Jazz veteran and a good friend Edwin Duff at Christmas lunch in Waikiki, Honolulu In December 2007.
In March 2008 an alliance was formed between six good friends / musicians and the two vocalists, and rehearsals began on a diverse repertoire of music.
The Band had its debut performance at the famous El Rocco Jazz Cellar,Kings Cross in May 2008. Other venues have included The Kings Cross Hotel, Villa Rosa Lounge Leichhardt, Watershed Darling Harbour, Polish Clubs – Bankstown and Ashfield, Canada Bay Club, and a special open air performance as the headline act at the 2009 Kings Cross Food & Wine Festival. The band also plays for numerous private functions.
Halina’s ability to sing in other languages (Italian, French, Spanish, Polish and Russian) has attracted a Multicultural following. Originally from a soul/funk background, singing with such musicians as Justin Dileo and Jackie Orszaczky, Halina has mellowed into a fine interpreter of jazz and Latin standards. John Redmond is one of Sydney’s most talented and experienced jazz/swing singers who also prepares and writes the charts for the Band.
ODD MAN IN. Odd Man In was formed approximately 2 years ago and serves as a creative outlet for guitarists Patrick Clark and Peter San Filipo as well as bass player Andrzej Małecki, all of who share vocal and songwriting duties. With styles and songs influenced by bands such as The Police, The Beatles and Ben Harper, Odd Man in provide a cool acoustic mix of pop, rock and folk.
OLIVIA KIERDAL.Olivia is a very gifted and passionate 15 year old vocalist from Sydney. She has been singing as long as she can remember, began dancing at the age of 3, playing piano at 4 and a guitar at 8. Olivia is a passionate song writer, composing her fist piece at the age of 9. Her collection now totals over 40 songs.
She has been performing on stage since the age of 4. Olivia took part in World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney, performing two of her own songs specially written for the occasion!
She was chosen out of a world wide audience to perform not only the 2 songs, but in total 6, all of which were composed by her. This is her 4th time singing at the Polish Christmas.
