OLIVIA KOWALIK. Olivia is 8 years old and has been playing the violin since the age of 5. She follows the steps of her 3 eldest siblings mastering the art of playing the violin. Last year she won a medal in Macarthur Eisteddfod. Currently she is a student of Prof. Peter Zhang and enjoys playing violin. She also has been learning piano. She loves reading, dancing at Polish folkloric ensemble "LAJKONIK" and going to Polish Saturday school.
PODHALE. “Podhale” Polish Folklore Ensemble is a community group, based in south western Sydney (Cabramatta) and is under the patronage of the Cabramatta Polish Association. It was established in January this year
and has a current membership base of 32 dancers in 3 age categories. Podhale is lead by Daniel and Basia Gadd in conjunction with a team of dedicated dancers and parents.
The name “Podhale” refers to the mountainous region in Southern Poland and literally means "under the mountain meadows". The repertoire of "Podhale" is based on authentic Polish folklore, including a dynamic mountaineers' dance from the region of Skalne Podhale and enchanting dances from Cieszyn, performed in genuine regional costumes.
"Podhale" is preparing for and looking forward to performing at its first ever Pol-Art in Adelaide this year.
POL-HOP.In June 2005 singing and dance assemble POL-HOP was created by support of parents, children and music teachers Ms. Basia Henclewska and Mrs. Konstancja Kotowska. Since then POL-HOP performed at many Polish events in Sydney and also performed in Melbourne, Canberra, Jindabyne and Adelaide. Their music covers many areas from folk to contemporary music. Present members of POL-HOP are:
Alicia Polak, Angelica Machowicz, Jessica Polak, Aleksandra Jasieniecka, Olivia Bugaj.
SYRENKA.The Polish Folkloric Ensemble Syrenka is a non-profit youth group based at the Ashfield Polish Club on Norton St. that has performed in many places around the nation and overseas over the past four decades
and is currently preparing for a festival in Adelaide.
Syrenka's style of dance is fun - beautiful costumes, singing, acrobatics and unique traditional choreographies which tell a story the audience can enjoy - though often with unexpected surprises and outcomes!
