Dear friends, I don't know if you, like me, would like to help the Chilean people who have lost everything in the recent earthquake, but don't know how to go about it.
The Consulate of Chile has opened an account at the Westpac Bank to receive cash donations. The money will go directly to the government organzation in Chile that is helping the victims, without intermediaries or paying commissions to anyone.
It would be wonderful if you could donate whatever you can, every bit helps. Until now, Chile has always been a donor country, not a receiver of help. It has just had to recall hundreds of troops that have been helping earthquake victims in Haiti. Even though there has not been a very high death rate, it is the poorest people in the country, whose houses were old or along the coast, who have lost the most.
The account is called Earthquake Chile, at the Westpac Bank. Account Number: 404022, BSB 032016.
Many thanks Paz Domeyko
