Australian film about Chopin
from Mark Krawczynski
Australian Film about Chopin: “Chopin’s Poland” will be shown at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music , Macquarie Street, on Thursday 28-10-2010 at 2.30pm in the Choral Hall. This 25 minute documentary film is about the composer Fryderyk Chopin and his beloved Poland. It was made by an Australian producer, Peter Beveridge, who also attended the Sydney Conservatorium before becoming a filmmaker and who is now the Director of Bradon Hill Films and TV Productions. He worked in collaboration with another Conservatorium Graduate and Australian Architect, Mark Krawczynski, who is of Polish origin.

The SBS Youth Orchestra met Mark during their stay in Poland. He promoted and introduced their concert performance in Warsaw together with the Australian Ambassador to Poland H.E. Ruth Pearce. Mark will personally introduce the film at the screening in Sydney.

The film explains much about Polish culture and history and how this influenced Chopin’s creativity. This original film is in the English language and beautifully narrated by famous Shakespearian actor Simon Callow who was also one of the stars of ęFour Weddingsę and a ęFuneralę as well as many other fine films. It has since been also translated into other languages, including Polish, French and Mandarin.

This film will be shown as well at the SBS studios at Herbert Street Artarmon on Friday Nov 5th at 5pm.
