The Year of Strzelecki
Sir Paul Edmund Strzelecki – scientist, explorer, geologist, environmentalist and philanthropist – patron of the Year 2023 – as declared by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. While celebrating the 150th death anniversary of Sir Paul E. Strzelecki, we also commemorate his contributions to explore Australia.
Celebrations
Various events will take place in different places in Australia and Poland. In Australia we will celebrate in Sydney, Melbourne, Morwell in Gippsland, Towong and Khankoban. Our delegations will also go with the Aborigines to Poland – in the footsteps of Strzelecki to Poznań, Warsaw and Kraków.
Competition about Strzelecki
To celebrate the extraordinary life of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, Kosciuszko Heritage Inc. based in Sydney, together with the Polish Kościuszko Foundation in Warsaw, the Raczyński Library in Poznań, the Kościuszko Mound Committee in Krakow and the Federation of Polish Organizations in New South Wales is proud to announce an international competition for the year 2023 in the categories of music, poetry and fine arts.
