To celebrate the extraordinary life of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki, Kosciuszko Heritage Inc. based in Sydney, together with the Polish Kościuszko Foundation in Warsaw, the Raczyński Library in Poznań, the Kościuszko Mound Committee in Krakow and the Federation of Polish Organizations in New South Wales is proud to announce an international competition for the year 2023 in the categories of music, poetry and fine arts. The Sejm of the Republic of Poland proclaimed 2023 as the Year of Strzelecki, in honor of the 150th anniversary of his passing. The aim of the competition is to bring the multi-faceted life of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki – explorer, scientist, humanitarian and witty character – back into living memory.
Entries can be in English or Polish.
The competition is open to individuals in two age categories: 1) adults; and 2) high school students (aged 12 to 18).
Hurry up to write a poem or compose a song (a ballad, elegy, hymn, rap or satire or Melo recitation). Get ready to create images: portraits, paintings, genre scenes, sketches, cartoons, caricatures, collages, memes, logos and posters, mural or medallion designs.
Head of the jury panel is Dr Leszek Marek Krzesniak, President, Polish Kosciuszko Foundation.
The competition will close on July 20th. The results will be announced in Sydney on October 6th during a gala event.
Prizemoney totalling $AUD 25,000 is on offer.
The award for the best song is AUD$ 5,000.
